Local/NYC

The New York Academy of Sciences invites young women ages 13-17 around the world to join 1000 Girls 1000 Futures to receive mentorship from female STEM experts, gain access to college readiness and leadership coursework, and network with other girls passionate about STEM!

The mission of the Ali Forney Center is to protect homeless Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning youths from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to be independent.

Bottomless Closet - https://bottomlesscloset.org

For more than 20 years, Bottomless Closet has helped empower New York City women in need to enter the workforce and achieve success. Through our one-on-one attention, we provide them with the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet.

Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) NYC - https://www.gems-girls.org

Girls Educational and Mentoring Services’ (GEMS) mission is to empower girls and young women, ages 12–29, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS is committed to ending commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact commercially sexually exploited youth.

Urban Justice Center - https://www.urbanjustice.org

UJC is composed of many longstanding Anchor Projects, who serve tens of thousands of people a year, on critical issues ranging from homelessness, to discrimination, to seeking asylum, to escaping intimate partner violence. Each Project is led by experts in the field, who devise their own strategy for making change, often combining free direct legal services to those in need with impact litigation, social services, community organizing, legislative advocacy, “know your rights” trainings, and more.

Win provides safe housing and critical services to help homeless women and their children rebuild their lives and break the cycle of homelessness

National

Black Mamas Matter Alliance - https://blackmamasmatter.org/ 

The Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a national network of Black women-led and Black-led, birth and reproductive justice organizations and multi-disciplinary professionals, working across the full-spectrum of maternal and reproductive health.

For the Gworls - https://www.forthegworls.party/home

For the Gworls is a Black, trans-led collective that curates parties to fundraise money to help Black transgender people pay for their rent, gender-affirming surgeries, smaller co-pays for medicines/doctor’s visits, and travel assistance. 

Indigenous Women Rising - https://www.iwrising.org

Indigenous Women Rising is committed to honoring Native & Indigenous People’s inherent right to equitable and culturally safe health options through accessible health education, resources and advocacy.

NARAL Pro-Choice America - https://www.prochoiceamerica.org/ 

The 4 million members of NARAL Pro-Choice America fight for reproductive freedom for every body. Each day, we organize and mobilize to protect that freedom by fighting for access to abortion care, birth control, paid parental leave, and protections from pregnancy discrimination.

The National Network of Abortion Funds builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.

She Should Run is a national nonpartisan nonprofit working to dramatically increase the number of women considering a run for public office. We are driven by a bold goal to inspire 250,000 women from all walks of life to take their first steps toward public leadership and join our community by 2030.


International

The Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI) is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to protect and promote human rights in Iran. Headquartered in New York, CHRI is comprised of award-winning journalists, researchers, lawyers, activists, writers, multimedia specialists and advocates based around the world who work to support the basic rights and freedoms of the Iranian people.

Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai founded Malala Fund in 2013 to champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education. Malala Fund invests in education advocates and activists who are challenging the policies and practices that prevent girls from going to school in their communities.

UN Women USA is an independent non-profit, 501c3 organization that supports UN Women programs. These projects promote social, political, and economic equality for women and girls spanning 100 countries around the globe.

Urgent Action Fund - https://urgentactionfund.org/get-involved/giv-a-gift/ 

Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights is a feminist fund that protects, strengthens and sustains women and transgender human rights defenders at critical moments. We intervene quickly when activists are poised to make great gains or face serious threats to their lives and work. We respond to requests from women’s human rights defenders within 72 hours and have funds on the ground within 1-7 days.

In countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community, and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and community.
